The social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, experienced another service disruption on Thursday, leaving users unable to access or refresh the platform.
According to reports from outage-tracking service Downdetector, more than 500 users had flagged issues by around 12:40 pm IST. Many users reported that the platform failed to load properly or displayed errors while refreshing feeds.
X, previously known as Twitter, is a widely used microblogging platform that allows users to share short posts and interact in real time across smartphones, tablets, and desktop devices.
Recurring Outages Raise Concerns
This marks the latest in a series of outages affecting the platform in 2026. Earlier in March, a significant global disruption impacted users in India, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
During that incident, Downdetector recorded over 4,700 outage reports in India within a short time frame, alongside more than 27,000 reports in the United States and over 4,300 in the United Kingdom. Users encountered similar issues, including feed refresh failures and error messages.
Additionally, a February outage saw over 42,000 reports globally, highlighting ongoing stability concerns for the platform.
Cause Remains Unclear
As of now, the exact cause of the latest outage remains unknown. Neither X nor Elon Musk has issued an official statement regarding the disruption.
The platform had previously restored services after earlier outages without providing detailed explanations, leaving users and analysts speculating about underlying technical or infrastructure issues.
User Impact
The outage disrupted communication for users who rely on the platform for real-time updates, news, and social interaction. With repeated outages occurring in recent months, questions are being raised about the platform’s reliability and long-term stability.
