Donald Trump has suggested that the United States may launch additional strikes on Kharg Island, a strategic hub in **Iran’s oil export network, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
Speaking in an interview with NBC News, the US president claimed American forces had already “demolished” the island’s key targets but hinted that further attacks could occur.
“We’ve totally decimated it, but we may hit it a few more times just for fun,” Trump said while discussing recent military operations in the region.
Strategic Importance of Kharg Island
Kharg Island plays a critical role in Iran’s energy infrastructure. The facility manages nearly 90 percent of Iran’s crude oil exports, making it one of the most strategically significant locations in the country’s petroleum supply chain.
Situated roughly 300 miles northwest of the Strait of Hormuz, the island functions as Iran’s primary oil export terminal and a vital node for global energy markets.
Any damage to infrastructure in the region could disrupt supply routes and potentially influence international oil prices.
US Military Conducts Precision Strikes
According to United States Central Command, American forces carried out precision strikes on around 90 military targets linked to Iran. Officials stated that the operations were conducted carefully to avoid damaging energy infrastructure.
Trump emphasised that the United States deliberately avoided destroying the island’s oil facilities.
“I didn’t do anything having to do with the energy lines, because rebuilding that would take years,” the president said.
Iran Accuses UAE of Assisting the Strikes
Iranian authorities alleged that US forces used ports and facilities in the United Arab Emirates as operational bases during the attack. Iranian officials urged residents to avoid areas where American forces might be operating.

However, the president added that any agreement currently being pursued by Tehran would not meet his expectations.
As of now, Iranian officials have not issued a direct response to Trump’s remarks.
