In a significant push to preserve and promote Odisha’s rich cultural and spiritual roots, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday inaugurated a ₹7 crore redevelopment project at Jayadev Pitha in Kenduli, Khordha — the birthplace of revered Sanskrit poet Jayadeva.

Unveiled during the Jayadev Jayanti celebrations, the project aims to transform the sacred site into a vibrant center of literature, devotion, and tourism, deeply rooted in the poet’s timeless masterpiece, Geeta Govinda.

The redevelopment plan includes an expansive green landscape with flower gardens, ten symbolic lotus ponds, and a Dasavatar-themed plaza. Visitors will be greeted by a grand entrance gate, while the site will also see the addition of craft stalls, groves, and food courts — blending traditional aesthetics with tourist-friendly amenities.

CM Majhi emphasized that the initiative reflects Odisha’s commitment to honoring legendary figures who shaped its cultural identity. “Jayadeva’s legacy is inseparable from our heritage. This site will become a spiritual and cultural beacon for future generations,” he stated.

The Chief Minister urged Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi to monitor the progress and help develop Jayadev Pitha into a model cultural village. He also directed the Culture, Tourism, and I&PR departments to prepare a comprehensive project blueprint.

Among those present at the launch were Deputy CM Pravati Parida, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, MLA Babu Singh, and other senior government officials, highlighting the state’s united focus on cultural preservation through infrastructure and community engagement.
