The School of Electrical and Computer Sciences (SECS), IIT Bhubaneswar, in association with the IEEE Bhubaneswar Section, organised a technical talk on emerging electronic and sensing technologies.

Prof. Ioannis (John) Kymissis, Vice Dean for Infrastructure and Innovation and Kenneth Brayer Professor of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University, delivered the keynote address on “MicroLEDs for Display and Non-Display Applications.” He explained how MicroLEDs achieve superior efficiency, luminance, and durability. He highlighted applications beyond displays, including biomedical imaging, visible light communication, microscopy, and IoT-enabled systems. He also addressed challenges in thermal management, device integration, and system-level optimisation.

Abhijit Narayan Eshore, Doctoral Researcher at IIT Kharagpur, presented his work on inorganic perovskite-based gas sensors for monitoring climate-relevant pollutants. He emphasised advances in defect engineering, sensor selectivity, and machine learning-assisted gas identification, underscoring their importance in environmental monitoring.

Dr Sayan Dey, Assistant Professor (ECE), coordinated the programme. Faculty members, researchers, and students participated enthusiastically, engaging in discussions on MicroLED technologies and advanced gas sensors. The event created a valuable platform for academic exchange and highlighted innovation in electronics and climate-relevant engineering solutions.
