Dr Ashish Kumar, Secretary of the Union Ministry of Cooperation, visited OMFED headquarters in Sahid Nagar, Bhubaneswar, and expressed satisfaction with the cooperative’s functioning.
He attended a high-level meeting with senior officials from the central and state cooperative departments, OMFED management, and livestock resources representatives.
OMFED Managing Director Vijay Amruta Kulange briefed the Secretary on product development, milk collection, processing, and ongoing projects. Dr Kumar praised OMFED’s modern techniques and high-quality dairy products, noting that milk production in Odisha has increased significantly after the launch of the Chief Minister’s Kamadhenu Yojana.
He assured central assistance for further growth and approved the formation of new cooperative societies under the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD). He emphasised that farmers must benefit directly from government schemes and urged measures to ensure accessibility.
The meeting highlighted OMFED’s role in boosting dairy output and creating healthier products for consumers. Dr Kumar’s commitment to support Odisha’s dairy sector marks a new chapter in cooperative development.
