The Sisir Saras Mela 2026 concluded today on a high note, marking the most successful chapter in its history. This year, the fair achieved an extraordinary financial milestone with total sales reaching Rs 30 crore.

This remarkable accomplishment far surpasses previous records and reflects the growing consumer demand for local products, leading to significant improvements in the livelihoods of rural artisans and Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

The fair’s outstanding success was driven by unprecedented participation and effective promotional efforts. A record 400 stalls were established this year, along with a large food court offering a diverse array of traditional delicacies. To ensure extensive outreach, a special promotional video was screened in cinema halls across the state, resulting in an impressive footfall of over 5 lakh visitors who actively supported local entrepreneurs.

With a focus on inclusive and holistic development, the 2026 edition introduced several groundbreaking initiatives. For the first time in the history of Sisir Saras, daily workshops on business growth and modern marketing were organized for SHGs and new entrepreneurs. A dedicated ‘Kids Zone’ was also introduced, making the fair a truly family-friendly destination. Additionally, an innovative fashion show was held for the first time to showcase Odisha’s rich handloom heritage to contemporary audiences, and a ‘Kite Show’ was organized by ORMAS on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The fair emphasised Odisha’s regional identity and authenticity by prioritizing GI-tagged products and ODOP (One District One Product) items. Visitors enjoyed access to high-quality, authentic products, while rural artisans successfully established a distinct identity for their crafts. Beautifully executed road paintings and sand art installations within the fair premises further captivated visitors and enhanced the festive atmosphere.

The evening cultural programs were among the main attractions of the fair. These featured classical Odissi dance, the powerful Paika Akhada martial art, and vibrant Sambalpuri folk dances. Additionally, folk dance troupes from various states presented lively performances, conveying a strong message of national integration and cultural exchange. The successful conclusion of Sisir Saras Fair 2026 once again highlights the impact of rural innovation and reaffirms the unique significance of Odisha’s traditional arts and crafts.
