Odisha Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik strongly criticised the state government following the gangrape of a minor girl near Dhauli in Bhubaneswar.
Posting on X, Patnaik described the incident as “deeply disturbing and shocking,” and accused the government of failing to ensure safety in the state capital.
Patnaik said barbarity and lawlessness had crossed all limits, leaving Bhubaneswar unsafe. He alleged that criminals acted fearlessly while the government lost credibility. He questioned how much further law and order must deteriorate before authorities take responsibility.

Highlighting the government’s inability to prevent crime, Patnaik argued that ordinary citizens now live in fear. He added that the BJP-led government’s failure to provide a secure environment for women reflected insensitivity and incompetence.
Patnaik urged the government to take strict measures to curb crime and ensure women’s safety. He emphasised that preventive action must come before incidents occur, not after. His remarks echoed growing public outrage over the Dhauli case, which has already prompted police arrests and a state-level investigation.
