Odisha Vigilance secured another conviction today as Amin Khan, former Sub-Inspector of Police at Nandankanan PS, Bhubaneswar, received four years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 in a bribery case.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, convicted Khan under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Vigilance officials established that Khan demanded and accepted a bribe from a vehicle owner to release a seized tractor and trailer.
Furthermore, the court directed that Khan, now retired, be sent immediately to jail to serve his sentence. Odisha Vigilance also announced that it will move the competent authority to stop his pension benefits following the conviction.
Moreover, officials emphasised that this judgment strengthens the fight against corruption and reinforces accountability among public servants. They highlighted that strict legal action against bribery restores public trust in governance.
