Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi addressed the 13th Employment Mela at OUAT’s Agriculture Auditorium and handed appointment letters to 591 candidates across three departments.

The Water Resources Department received 232 Assistant Executive Engineers, the Works Department 197, and the Housing and Urban Development Department 142. In addition, five Finance and Accounts Officers and 15 Planning Assistants joined government service. For the first time, the Odisha Public Service Commission selected engineers based on GATE scores.

The Chief Minister reminded the recruits that government jobs mean public service. He urged them to stay away from corruption and remain committed to welfare programs. He highlighted that in the last 18 months, the state provided 37,916 government jobs. Within six months, another 30,000 posts will be filled. Over five years, the government plans to complete recruitment for 1.5 lakh vacant positions.

Majhi also launched the Chief Minister Adibandh Scheme 3.0, with Rs 2,738 crore sanctioned. The plan includes the construction of 3,000 new check dams and the restoration of 2,000 old ones over five years, covering 48,000 hectares of farmland.

On the same occasion, he inaugurated irrigation projects worth Rs 425 crore and laid foundations for projects worth Rs 2,063 crore. These initiatives will benefit over 1.27 lakh farmers across Odisha.

The CM emphasised that Odisha is entering a new era of infrastructure development, with engineers playing a crucial role. He noted that the state spends more than 6.1% of its GDP on capital investment, the highest in India.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan also addressed the gathering, urging recruits to work with integrity and professionalism.
