Winter has tightened its hold over Odisha, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures and dense fog that has disrupted daily life across the state. The cold wave has been especially severe in the western and southern districts, where residents are experiencing biting winds and reduced visibility during the early morning hours.
Commuters reported significant inconvenience due to thick fog before 9 AM, with many facing challenges navigating through the low-visibility conditions.
According to official meteorological data, six locations in Odisha recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C on Thursday.

Meteorologists stated that the cold wave conditions are likely to continue for the next few days. Residents—particularly children, older adults, and individuals with health concerns—are advised to take precautions to minimize exposure to the extreme cold.
Temperature Outlook
Minimum (night-time) temperatures across the state are expected to fall by 2–3°C over the next two days, followed by a gradual increase of 2–3°C during the five days thereafter.
