Renowned Odia playback singer Humane Sagar is currently in critical condition and undergoing treatment on a ventilator at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. His health has shown no signs of improvement since his admission, with multiple organs failing, prompting doctors to place him under close observation for the next 72 hours. Family members have appealed to the state government for financial assistance to support his ongoing medical care.

The 35-year-old singer was rushed to the emergency department of AIIMS Bhubaneswar on November 14, 2025, in a severely critical state. After initial stabilisation, he was shifted to the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) under the supervision of intensivists and ECMO specialists. A thorough evaluation revealed a range of severe health issues, including Multi-Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS), encephalopathy, shock, respiratory failure, acute kidney injury, hepatopathy, thrombocytopenia, coagulopathy, Acute on Chronic Liver Failure (ACLF), bilateral pneumonia, and dilated cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction.

Sources indicate that Sagar’s liver condition had been deteriorating, severely impacting his kidneys. He had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack for the past few weeks before his condition worsened, leading to his transfer to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Friday. Hospital authorities have stated that if his health does not stabilise within the next 72 hours, arrangements may be made to airlift him to AIIMS Delhi for advanced care.

Dr. Srikant Behera, the ECMO specialist overseeing his treatment, confirmed that Sagar is on high ventilator support. His mother has publicly requested the Odisha state government to extend financial aid, emphasising the need for potential out-of-state treatment. “His organs are not functioning properly. We’re considering transferring him outside the state for better care, and we need government support,” she said.

Sagar’s personal physician noted that his condition remains unstable, and any decision on airlifting will be made only after stabilisation. The singer is married to Shriya and has a daughter.

Humane Sagar, often hailed as Odisha’s Arijit Singh, has carved a niche in the Odia film and album industry with his versatile voice, excelling in romantic songs, bhajans, and item numbers. He first gained prominence by winning “Voice of Odisha Season 2.” His breakthrough came with the title track of the film “Isk Tu Hi Tu” under music director Abhijit Majumdar. He followed this with hits in films like “Gapa Hele Bi Sata” starring Anubhav Mohanty, establishing himself as a household name.

Over his career, Sagar has delivered over 100 hit songs, including those from films such as “Love You Hamesha,” “Jabardast Premik,” “Baby,” “Prem Nisha Niara Niara,” “Tu Mo Love Story,” “Romeo Juliet,” “Laila Laila,” “Tokata Fasigala,” “4 Idiots,” “Blackmail,” “Isk Punithare,” and “Prem Kumar.” Last year, his song “Chiring Chiring” from Anubhav’s “Karma” became a massive hit. This year, he contributed to Anubhav’s “Charidham” and Ardhendu’s “Challenge,” winning hearts across Odisha.

Interestingly, Sagar abandoned his medical studies midway due to his passion for music. He began learning music in the third grade and dropped out of his first year of medical school to pursue singing full-time, a decision that propelled him to stardom.

As news of his condition spreads, concern grows among fans and the Odia entertainment industry, especially with several artists facing health challenges recently.
