Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed cyclone preparedness with senior officials across the eastern coastal railway zones.
Cyclone Montha is expected to impact rail infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana.
Vaishnaw instructed zonal authorities to ensure passenger safety and secure railway assets before the cyclone makes landfall. He emphasized activating divisional emergency control rooms and maintaining round-the-clock monitoring.
The minister directed Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Guntur divisions to keep emergency equipment, technical teams, and rescue personnel ready. He advised close supervision of train operations to minimize passenger inconvenience and maintain service continuity.
To support response efforts, Vaishnaw asked South Eastern, East Coast, and South Central Railway zones to coordinate resources and implement precautionary measures. He stressed the importance of proactive planning to reduce cyclone-related disruptions.
