Four men have been arrested after a woman allegedly reported that she was sexually assaulted at a private guest house in Nimapara in Odisha’s Puri district.
The woman, who is from Anugola, had previously worked at a guest house in Bhubaneswar before joining the Nimapara establishment on September 1.
According to the report, the complaint was initially lodged at Khandagiri Police Station on September 8. Khandagiri police registered a Zero FIR before transferring the case to Nimapara Police Station for further investigation.
Woman Alleges Repeated Assault
One of the arrested accused has been identified as Ramesh Das of Bhubaneswar. He had reportedly worked with the woman at a guest house in the city and allegedly persuaded her to join the Nimapara establishment.
The woman alleged that Ramesh Das and another accused, identified as Raja, sexually assaulted her. Two other accused were identified as Sushant and Akshay.
According to the complaint, all four men worked at the guest house. The woman further alleged that the assaults occurred on multiple occasions and that she was threatened with death if she reported the matter.
The allegations are subject to investigation.
Police Arrest All Four Accused
Nimapara police subsequently registered a case and arrested all four accused.
According to the report, two of them were arrested from the Pipili area, while the other two were apprehended from Nimapara.
Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.
BJD Workers Stage Protest
Tension was reported in the locality on Sunday night after BJD supporters staged a protest over the case.
The protesters alleged that the accused were associated with the ruling BJP and accused Nimapara police of attempting to suppress the matter and settle the case.
