Bhawanipatna: An elephant was found dead with tusks missing in Ranibahali Revenue Forest of Kardapadar under of Thuamul Rampur North Range of Kalahandi South Division on Saturday.
As per reports, the carcass of a female elephant aged around 30-35 years old was in a partially decomposed state which made it difficult to ascertain the exact cause of death. The tusks were found to be missing from the carcass, which led officials to suspect poaching.
Following this, the forest official launched a probe and managed to nab one Dana Majhi of Surumundi who had removed the ivory from the carcass.
The cops also recovered the tusks near the house premises of Dana Majhi.
