Actor couple Suriya and Jyotika’s daughter, Diya Suriya, has stepped into the film industry, not as an actor but as a director. At just 17, Diya is making her directorial debut with Leading Light, a 13-minute documentary produced under the family banner, 2D Entertainment.
The film is currently being screened at Regency Theatre, California from September 26 to October 2 as part of its Oscar-qualifying run.
About Leading Light
According to RegencyMovies.com, Leading Light explores the untold stories of women gaffers in Bollywood — technicians who handle lighting on film sets. The documentary features intimate interviews with three pioneering women, capturing their experiences working behind the camera in a male-dominated industry.
2D Entertainment announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), sharing the film’s poster and writing:
“#LeadingLight – The untold stories of women behind the scenes. Congratulations, our dearest #DiyaSuriya, on this exceptional feat and on shedding light on these hidden gems.”
