Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday distributed the fourth phase of the first instalment under the Subhadra Yojana, benefiting over 18 lakh women across the state.

During a special event in Jajpur district, the Chief Minister allocated more than Rs 900 crore in financial aid for the initiative.

Shri Majhi posted in his X, “Today, the fourth phase of the first instalment of Subhadra Yojana was distributed in Jajpur, the holy land of Maa Biraja. On this occasion, I am very happy to provide financial assistance of over Rs. 900 crore to a total of over 18 lakh new beneficiaries”.

Among those present at the event were Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling. Each of the 18 lakh women beneficiaries is set to receive Rs 5,000 in this fourth round of disbursement. This brings the total number of women benefitting from the scheme to 98 lakh so far.

Initially, the release of the fourth phase funds was scheduled for December 25, but the state government postponed it to facilitate an ongoing verification process. The third phase of funding was given to 20 lakh women on November 24.

The Subhadra scheme was introduced on September 17, 2024, following the establishment of the BJP government in Odisha. In the first phase, Rs 5,000 was credited to the accounts of 25 women beneficiaries, while the second phase, which took place on October 9, reached around 39 lakh women.

The Deputy Chief Minister also shared plans for further distributions, announcing that the second instalment will be made available on March 8, aligning with International Women’s Day. Beneficiaries who missed the first instalment will also receive their due amounts on the same date.

The state government aims to extend the scheme to more than one crore eligible women, with implementation planned between the financial years 2024-25 and 2028-29. An outlay of Rs 55,825 crore has been allocated for this initiative.
