In a move to support working journalists across Odisha, the state government has extended the application deadline for the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana.
Acting on the directive of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the deadline—originally set for August 25—has now been pushed to August 30.
This extension comes in response to appeals from journalists who sought more time to complete their applications. The scheme offers comprehensive health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family, enabling cashless treatment at various empanelled hospitals.
Applications for both new enrollments and renewals are being accepted online this year. Interested journalists can apply through the official portal: .
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of media professionals who play a vital role in informing the public.
