Nuapada district witnessed two disturbing incidents on April 8, sparking questions about whether they were murders or suicides.
Police launched investigations in both cases.
In the first case, Lakhana police recovered the body of an unidentified man, aged between 35 and 45, hanging from a tree near Thakurpali Murga Padia. Officers reached the spot and began inquiries to establish his identity. A case was registered, and the body was sent for examination.
In another incident, locals discovered the body of a woman hanging behind Mahamaya College boys’ hostel at Sunasunia under Jonk police limits. The deceased was identified as Maini Bariha of Anlayuba village. Police arrived promptly and initiated an investigation.
Family members’ alleged domestic disputes may have led to the tragedy. Authorities are probing the claims while examining other possible angles.
