The Odisha government convened two high-level meetings focusing on migrant labor welfare and the growing menace of drug trafficking.

The first meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, brought together key ministers including Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, and Industries Minister Sampad Swain. The agenda centered around the Dadan (migrant) labor system, aiming to streamline welfare measures and ensure better working conditions for Odisha’s migrant workforce. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and departmental officials also participated, emphasizing inter-departmental coordination.

In a parallel development, another strategic meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhavan to tackle illicit drug trade. The focus shifted from small-time traffickers to identifying and apprehending the masterminds behind organized drug networks. Authorities resolved to intensify enforcement near educational campuses and hotspots, with special emphasis on school and college zones. The meeting, presided over by Chief Secretary Ahuja, included senior enforcement officials and outlined a roadmap for robust action.

These meetings reflect the state’s proactive stance on labor rights and public safety, signaling a multi-pronged approach to governance.
