An encounter erupted on Thursday morning between terrorists and security forces in the Nader area of Tral, situated in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The development was confirmed by the Kashmir Police through a post on their official handle on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).

“Encounter has started at Nader, Tral area of Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the post read.

The operation is currently underway with joint teams of the police, Army, and paramilitary forces engaged in the firefight. The area has been cordoned off to prevent any escape, and reinforcements have been rushed in.

This encounter comes amid heightened alert in the Valley following recent counter-terror operations and increased militant activity post the Operation Sindoor ceasefire.

Further details, including the number of militants involved and casualties, if any, are awaited.
