In a significant move ahead of the Durga Puja festivities, the Orissa High Court has issued strict directives concerning the construction of decorative gates and sound levels during celebrations in Cuttack city.
The court has specifically restricted the erection of excessively tall gates and electric-powered entry structures, citing public safety concerns. Organisers have been instructed to seek prior permission for gate construction, ensuring that designs do not obstruct public movement or emergency access.
Additionally, the court has mandated that DJ music played during the festivities must remain within a sound limit of 65 decibels. This directive aims to minimise noise pollution and safeguard the well-being of residents, especially the elderly and children.
The High Court’s intervention comes in response to growing concerns over unregulated festive installations and sound systems that often pose risks to public safety and civic order. Authorities have been tasked with the strict enforcement of these guidelines to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration.
