In a determined bid to strengthen law and order, Puri Police have undertaken extensive operations across Puri City Subdivision during the first five months of 2026.
From January 1 to May 23, authorities arrested a total of 278 anti-social elements.
According to police data:
- 16 cases were registered in connection with Corex syrup trafficking, leading to the arrest of 26 accused and the seizure of 1,233 bottles.
- 13 cases were filed against brown sugar (heroin) peddlers, resulting in 28 arrests and the confiscation of 488 grams of the narcotic.
- 54 cases were registered under the Excise Act, with 54 persons arrested.
- Over 1,100 individuals were booked for public drinking in various parts of the city.
Senior police officials stated that these proactive measures aim to create a peaceful, secure, and crime-free environment in the holy city. They assured that such strict drives will continue in the coming days.
