A violent land dispute turned fatal in Santasahi under the Kendrapara Town police limits when a nephew brutally killed his uncle with a stone.
On Sunday midnight, Babulal Barik returned home when he encountered his nephew, Himanshu Barik. The two argued over a long-standing property dispute. In a fit of rage, Himanshu attacked Babulal with a stone, striking his head repeatedly. Babulal collapsed on the ground, severely injured.
Family members rushed him to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Police confirmed that the attack stemmed from a prolonged land feud between the two families.
Inspector Shubhendu Kumar Sahu of Kendrapara Town Police Station reached the crime scene and initiated an investigation. Police detained Himanshu and kept him in custody for interrogation.
The shocking murder has sparked tension in the locality, with residents expressing concern over escalating family disputes turning violent. Authorities assured strict legal action against the accused.
