A farmer was electrocuted to death after an 11KV wire snapped in the farmland under Chandabali block in Bhadrak district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Pramad Das of Baligaon Narasinghpur village.
About 2 acres of paddy cultivated by a nearby farmer was burnt in the fire. On receiving the information, the fire department reached the spot and doused the fire. Other farmers expressed their dissatisfaction by protesting against the reckless policy of the electricity department as a farmer lost his life. After this incident, the farmers kept the dead body of the deceased farmer in front of the Chandabali grid office and protested. The deceased’s family has demanded adequate compensation and compensation for the burnt rice fields.
