Odisha’s Minister for Law, Prithviraj Harichandan, announced on Thursday that the state government has decided to cancel the proposed trial run of the ‘Dhadi Darshan’ queue management system at the Puri Jagannath Temple, which was scheduled for the end of December.
This decision comes in response to the increasing number of devotees visiting the 12th-century shrine.
The Odisha government had initially planned to launch the Dhadi Darshan system to enhance the spiritual experience for devotees, with implementation set for January 1, 2025, following trial runs in late December 2024.
However, Minister Harichandan stated that due to the expected influx of visitors at the temple during December and early January, the implementation of Dhadi Darshan has been postponed to a date between January 20 and 22.
“During a meeting held today, we decided to cancel the Dhadi Darshan trial run because of the large crowd expected at the temple during that time. We will instead implement Dhadi Darshan in the third week of January after the ‘ganga snan’ ritual,” Harichandan informed the media.
