Paradip: 17 bogies of a freight train heading to Paradip port derailed near Bauriapalanda on the Paradip-Bauriapalanda railway line on Monday.
One buggy has overturned, while another is severely damaged. Four bogies have derailed from the track. It is reported that these 37 bogies are decommissioned units. These bogies, numbered 49040387, were supposed to be stationed inside the port.
The traditional practice was to transport three to four coaches at a time, but questions are being raised about the railway authority’s decision to move 37 coaches simultaneously. The derailment of the bogies has led to traffic disruptions on the railway lines. Railway authorities and port officials have arrived at the scene and initiated efforts to repair the train line.
