India batters Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan are set to return to red-ball cricket, confirming their participation in the Duleep Trophy for West Zone starting August 28.
The zonal selection will be finalised later on Friday, Mumbai Cricket Association sources told Hindustan Times.
Joining them will be Shivam Dube and Tushar Deshpande. West Zone have already sealed a semi-final spot and will face the quarter-final winner on September 4.
Shreyas, currently out of the Test squad, has played 14 Tests with one century and five fifties. Despite strong domestic form last season, he was overlooked for the England series. Selection chief Ajit Agarkar cited a lack of space in the current Test setup, while coach Gautam Gambhir encouraged consistent domestic performances for a comeback.
Sarfaraz, known for his prolific domestic run-scoring, was also ignored for the England tour. The right-hander, who scored a memorable 150 against New Zealand last year, has worked on fitness issues that have often overshadowed his performances.
Earlier, South Zone named Tilak Varma as captain for the Duleep Trophy. Stars like KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, and Mohammed Siraj have not been picked for the competition.
