In a major stride toward improving passenger convenience and meeting surging demand, Indian Railways has announced a 50% increase in coach capacity for the 20836/20835 Puri–Rourkela–Puri Vande Bharat Express.
Starting August 7, 2025, the train will operate with 16 coaches, doubling its current configuration of 8.

Covering a distance of 505 km in approximately. 7.5 hours, the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express operates six days a week (excluding Tuesdays) with the following schedule:
- Departure from Puri: 5:00 AM
- Departure from Rourkela: 2:10 PM
