Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected regions in Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts, following which he addressed a press conference outlining immediate relief measures and government response.

The Chief Minister confirmed that the flood situation in the state remains fully under control, with relief operations underway in the worst-affected areas. A total of 81 villages and around 30,000 people have been impacted across the three districts.

Highlighting the extent of damage, CM Majhi noted that eight blocks in the three districts were significantly affected:

  • Balasore district: Basta, Baliapal, Bhograi, and Jaleswar blocks

  • Bhadrak district: Dhamnagar and Bhandaripokhari blocks

  • Jajpur district: Jajpur and Dasharathpur blocks

He added that Keonjhar district has not been seriously affected by the floods.

Speaking to the media, CM Majhi stated:

“Cooked and dry food is being distributed in all affected areas. Over 10,000 people are being served two hot meals a day. District Collectors have been instructed to submit damage assessment reports at the earliest to ensure timely compensation.”

The Chief Minister assured that all necessary support will be provided to those who have suffered property or livelihood loss, and added that the state government is prioritizing a “zero casualty” approach during flood response and rescue operations.

He further emphasized that areas where houses have been damaged will receive appropriate compensation, and the administration is working in close coordination with local officials to ensure swift and effective delivery of aid.

This was CM Majhi’s first aerial survey of the current flood situation since heavy rains caused rivers such as Subarnarekha, Baitarani, and Jalaka to swell, impacting several low-lying areas. Relief camps, emergency response teams, and healthcare services have been activated to support the affected populations.
