Prominent Tamil film director Pa Ranjith, along with three others, faces legal scrutiny following the death of stuntman Mohan Raj, fondly known as Raju, during a car stunt on the set of the upcoming film Vettuvam.

The FIR invokes sections 289, 125, and 106 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, pointing to alleged negligence and regulatory lapses.

The individuals named in the FIR include stunt actor Vinoth, Rajkamal of Neelam Productions, and vehicle owner Prabhakaran. According to authorities, their collective roles in production planning and execution may have contributed to the tragic outcome.

The fatal incident occurred on July 13 during the filming of a high-risk sequence. Actor Vishal, also part of the film, later disclosed that Raju had been warned against performing the stunt, which ultimately led to his death.

Pa Ranjith, in a condolence post shared on the social media platform X, expressed heartbreak over the loss, stating the day began with planning, prayers, and care, but ended in shock and grief. He lauded Mohan Raj’s professionalism and revered status among the stunt crew.

Industry insiders say the case has triggered urgent conversations about safety protocols on film sets. With Neelam Productions now under scrutiny, the incident has cast a spotlight on accountability and the shared responsibility of filmmakers, producers, and technical teams to uphold safety standards.

As investigations proceed, the entertainment industry awaits further legal developments. No comments have been issued yet by the legal representatives of the accused.
