Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday marked the first anniversary of Odisha’s BJP government by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 18,600 crore across the state.

In a ceremony at Bhubaneswar’s Janata Maidan, PM Modi unveiled initiatives spanning drinking water, irrigation, health, rural roads, bridges, national highways and rail links, while also unveiling Odisha’s Vision Documents for 2036 and 2047.

Transforming Connectivity and Basic Services

PM Modi flagged off new train services to Boudh district—the first-ever rail link for the region—and launched 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) scheme, boosting sustainable urban mobility.

He laid the cornerstone for multiple drinking-water schemes and irrigation networks aimed at bolstering agricultural productivity, alongside rural bridges and stretches of four-lane national highways to knit Odisha’s hinterlands to its ports and cities.

Deepening Health and Social Welfare

Highlighting “double benefits” from Union‐State synergy, PM Modi announced the integration of Ayushman Bharat and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, extending free medical treatment to nearly 3 crore Odias, with portability across India.

Under the PM Vaya Vandana Yojana, over 23 lakh seniors now receive up to ₹5 lakh in free care. He also pledged higher procurement prices for paddy farmers, ensuring both central and state benefits flow to lakhs of cultivators.

Empowering Tribal and Coastal Communities

PM Modi underscored two flagship tribal schemes—Dharati Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (₹1 lakh crore across 60,000 villages) and PM Janman Yojana for PVTGs—backed by residential schools and basic infrastructure.

For Odisha’s fishermen, he rolled out the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana and Kisan Credit Cards, along with a dedicated ₹25,000 crore coastal fund to spark livelihoods along the Bay of Bengal.

Forging Odisha into an Industrial Hub

Under the “Purvoday” vision of Eastern India’s rise, Modi unveiled major industrial projects: a dual-feed cracker at Paradip, an LNG terminal in Gopalpur, crude‐oil storage at Chandikhole and a downstream petrochemicals unit.

With over Rs 1.5 lakh crore already invested, these ventures aim to position Odisha as the nation’s petrochemicals and industrial powerhouse, generating lakhs of jobs for youth.

Odisha Roadmap to 2036 and 2047

Closing the ceremony, PM Modi launched Odisha’s Vision 2036—marking 100 years as a linguistic state—and previewed the Vision 2047 for India’s centenary of independence. He expressed confidence that Odia youth will translate these blueprints into reality, taking the state “to new heights of development.”
