Odisha Crime Branch has arrested a man from Rayagada for posting an AI-generated doctored video of the Chief Minister on Facebook.
The video, allegedly created with malicious intent to defame the CM and tarnish his public image, was reported by a concerned citizen, prompting swift police action.
The Cyber Crime Unit of the Odisha Crime Branch launched an inquiry after receiving the complaint. Upon verifying the authenticity of the report, an FIR was registered under several provisions of the IT Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Meta Platforms (Facebook) was requested to remove the objectionable video, which was duly deleted. Further investigation traced the video’s source to a Facebook account operated by Kishore Kausalya, a resident of Keutaguda Station Sahi in Rayagada district.
A Crime Branch team apprehended Kausalya on June 18, 2025. He was working with a construction company in Tikri, Rayagada. The accused has been booked for multiple offences related to the publication and transmission of obscene content using artificial intelligence. He was presented before the SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar for legal proceedings.
