Bhadrak: In an unfortunate incident, a student, who excelled in the recently announced Matric examination, died after drowning in village pond at Srirampur under Charampha panchayat of Bhadrak district. The Matric exam result was declared yesterday.
The deceased student has been identified as Chandan Mohapatra, son of Ramesh Mahapatra— a resident of Srirampur village under Charampa Panchayat of Bhadrak block.
According to reports, Chandan passed the exam in Grade A-2 by scoring 86 per cent and by securing 519 marks in Matric exam. The family was very happy about Chandan’s performance in the Class 10 examination.
Today, Chandan had gone to take a bath in a pond near his house and was learning swimming. But, unfortunately, he drowned. Chandan was rescued and immediately brought to Bhadrak DHH where he was declared dead.
A pall of gloom descended in the entire village following the untimely death of Chandan.
