Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah attempted to distance his government from the Bengaluru stampede tragedy on Sunday, asserting that the state administration had no involvement in the incident that claimed 11 lives and injured dozens during RCB’s IPL victory celebrations on June 4.
Addressing a press conference, Siddaramaiah said, “This incident shouldn’t have happened. It occurred at the cricket stadium. I don’t have any connection with the cricket stadium.” He also confirmed that he was not present at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the event.
The stampede, which took place as massive crowds surged outside the stadium gates, shocked the state and led to public outcry over mismanagement.
