In a significant step towards transforming Odisha into an industrial powerhouse, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for 12 industrial projects worth over Rs 28,000 crore in Chhatrapur, Ganjam district, today.

These projects, focused on green hydrogen, chemicals, and renewable energy sectors, are expected to generate more than 15,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, marking a new era of prosperity for the region.

The event, part of the ambitious “Make in Odisha 2025” initiative, underscores the state’s remarkable progress in attracting investments. Over the past four months, Odisha has secured a staggering Rs 1.5 lakh crore in investments across various districts, with an estimated potential to create 90,000 jobs. The Ganjam projects alone are poised to establish the district as a benchmark for industrial development in the state.

During his address, CM Majhi emphasised that Ganjam is paving the way for a prosperous future, with these projects opening new avenues for economic growth. “Our vision and actions are aligned. The golden future we envision for Odisha will undoubtedly come to fruition,” he said, highlighting the state’s commitment to fostering industrial growth. He noted that similar foundation-laying ceremonies have recently taken place in Jajpur’s Kalinga Nagar (Rs 70,000 crore) and Dhenkanal (Rs 50,000 crore), with today’s event in Ganjam adding nearly Rs 30,000 crore to the state’s industrial portfolio.

The Chief Minister outlined Odisha’s strategic focus on port-based industrial development, revealing plans to establish three to four new ports in addition to the existing three. Supported by the Central Government’s approval of Rs 1 lakh crore for railway and highway projects, Odisha is set to build 75,000 km of world-class roads and multiple industrial corridors. These infrastructure developments will ensure that the state meets all essential requirements for industrial growth, from connectivity to logistics.

CM Majhi placed significant emphasis on the role of Odisha’s youth in driving the state’s industrial ambitions. “Our youth are the main charioteers of our vision for a prosperous Odisha by 2036,” he stated. To equip them with modern skills, the state government plans to establish four World Skill Centres and has partnered with Singapore’s ITEES to provide advanced training. Additionally, all Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Odisha will be upgraded to offer cutting-edge skill development programs, ensuring that the youth are well-prepared for employment in modern industries.

The success of the “Make in Odisha 2025” initiative was a key highlight of the event. The Chief Minister attributed the unprecedented achievements over the past four months to the state’s investor-friendly policies and robust infrastructure planning. “Ganjam has achieved a new milestone in industrialisation today, and this is just the beginning,” he said, expressing confidence in Odisha’s trajectory towards becoming a leading industrial destination.

The ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including Minister of Mines Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Minister of Industries Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of Animal Husbandry Gokulananda Mallik, Aska MP Anita Subhadarshini, Berhampur MP Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy, and Chhatrapur MLA Krishna Chandra Nayak, among others. Dr. Panigrahy delivered the welcome address, while Nayak proposed the vote of thanks.

The state’s focus on sustainable industries like green hydrogen and renewable energy aligns with global trends towards eco-friendly development. By combining strategic investments, infrastructure upgrades, and skill development, Odisha is positioning itself as a leader in India’s industrial landscape. With the youth at the forefront and a clear roadmap for growth, the state is on track to realise its vision of a prosperous Odisha by 2036.
