Security forces have successfully recovered a large cache of explosives looted by Maoists from Sundargarh, Odisha.

Three out of stolen 4 tons of explosives were found after an intensive three-day combing operation by police and paramilitary forces near the Odisha-Jharkhand border.

According to reports, the heist took place on Tuesday morning when a truck loaded with explosives was ambushed by over 30 armed individuals.

The attackers forced the driver to abandon the vehicle and fled with the materials into nearby forests. Acting swiftly, Odisha police, in coordination with Jharkhand and West Bengal forces, launched a massive search operation to prevent the explosives from being used in Maoist attacks.

After days of relentless tracking, officials located the stolen materials deep within the Saranda forest. Several suspects linked to the Maoist network are currently being interrogated. Authorities have assured further investigations and tightened security measures across vulnerable regions.

Security experts warn that such incidents highlight the persistent challenges in countering insurgent activities in eastern India. The recovery of these explosives is seen as a significant success in the fight against Maoist extremism, reinforcing the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensuring safety.
