Delhi Capitals ended their TATA IPL 2025 campaign on a high, clinching a thrilling six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in Match 66 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
Youngster Sameer Rizvi stole the show with a scintillating match-winning 58 off just 25 balls, steering DC home with three balls to spare.
Opting to bowl first, DC skipper Faf du Plessis saw his bowlers strike early, dismissing Priyansh Arya in the second over. However, Punjab Kings counter-attacked through Josh Inglis (37) and Prabhsimran Singh (29), setting a strong foundation. Despite regular wickets, captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings with a composed 53 off 34 balls, while Marcus Stoinis exploded at the death with an unbeaten 44 off 16 balls, propelling PBKS to a challenging 206/8.
DC’s bowlers, led by Mustafizur Rahman (3/33), and spin duo Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam (two wickets each), kept Punjab from posting an even bigger total.
Chasing 208, DC started cautiously, but Impact Player KL Rahul (22) and Faf du Plessis (14) ensured stability in the powerplay. Karun Nair (44 off 27) and Sameer Rizvi built a crucial stand, setting the stage for a thrilling finish. With 34 needed off the final three overs, Rizvi launched an assault, sealing the victory with a massive six.
While Delhi Capitals finished their season with seven wins from 14 matches, Punjab Kings, already assured of a playoff spot, now eye a Top 2 finish with their final league game against Mumbai Indians.
