The Odisha government has intensified its efforts to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in the state.

The Special Task Force (STF) has been designated as the nodal agency for this operation, under the supervision of DIG Pinak Mishra.

Authorities, including district officials, coastal security forces, and various enforcement agencies, have been instructed to take decisive action, with special focus on coastal districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, and Ganjam.

The state’s Law Minister, Prithviraj Harichandan, has emphasised that “Non-citizens cannot reside in Odisha,” signalling a strict approach toward identifying undocumented immigrants. Various agencies have been tasked with scrutinising workplaces where Bangladeshis are employed to ensure compliance with the identification process.

The crackdown is part of Odisha’s broader strategy to uphold law and order while preventing unauthorised residency. The government aims to safeguard the state’s demographic integrity and ensure security. This action is expected to reshape local communities and enforce immigration laws more rigorously.
