In a landmark initiative to strengthen women’s safety and convenience, the Puri Police Department has launched the Pink Help Desk at Srimandir. Every day, thousands of devotees and tourists visit this revered site, a significant portion of whom are women.

This new initiative aims to provide them with an additional layer of security and assistance, making their spiritual journey more comfortable and dignified.

Spearheaded by Puri Superintendent of Police Vinit Agrawal, the Pink Help Desk is staffed by six female constables, dedicated to assisting women devotees. Whether it’s addressing concerns related to security, gathering feedback, or ensuring swift action on complaints, the desk will function as a critical support system within the temple premises.

The launch of this initiative underscores the growing emphasis on responsible and community-driven policing. The female officers stationed at the desk will provide guidance, listen to grievances, and offer immediate assistance when necessary. In cases requiring further intervention, they will coordinate with local police stations and PCR teams.

SP Agrawal expressed optimism that the Pink Help Desk will not only provide safety but also a sense of warmth and reassurance to devotees. “This effort is about fostering trust and ensuring that every woman visiting the temple feels protected and respected,” she stated.

The implementation of this program sets a strong precedent for ensuring a safer, more respectful, and spiritually enriching environment for women devotees in religious spaces. With daily feedback collection, the desk will also help enhance temple security measures, ensuring an uninterrupted and peaceful darshan experience.

Visitors and locals alike have welcomed the initiative, with many thanking the Puri Police for their proactive approach toward women’s safety. Given the temple’s significance as one of the Char Dhams, this move is expected to make a meaningful difference in the pilgrimage experience of countless women.

As more religious sites look toward inclusive and protective measures, the Pink Help Desk at Puri Jagannath Temple stands as an inspiring model for security and service.
