The Odisha Excise Department seized 15 kg of ganja and 22 litres of country-made liquor, arresting two individuals in separate operations.
The first raid took place in Samara village, where officials intercepted a bronze-colored scooter suspected of transporting ganja. Upon inspection, authorities discovered 15 kg of ganja concealed in a white sack. The accused, identified as Dinabandhu Takri (46) from Muribahal police limits, was immediately arrested and later presented before the Bolangir court.
In another operation, officials raided Siletkani village under Deogaon police limits, where they seized 22 litres of country liquor from Harekrishna Bagarti (35). He was arrested and sent to Tusura court for further legal proceedings.
The raids were conducted under the leadership of Excise Officer Srikant Panigrahi, with a team comprising ASI Prithviraj Kumar, Constable Bibhuti Bhushan Bhoi, Bhojaraj Badhei, and Suneli Pradhan.
Authorities have intensified their efforts to curb illegal trade in the region, ensuring strict action against offenders involved in drug and liquor smuggling.
