Daily commuters in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar continue to face major inconvenience as repeated disruptions in Ama Bus services have become routine, especially during early morning hours. On Tuesday morning, no buses ran between 6 am and 8 am, leaving passengers stranded without prior notice or alternative arrangements.

Many commuters, including office-goers, students, and travelers heading to railway stations and airports, were forced to seek last-minute transport options. While CRUT, the managing body for Ama Bus, did issue a brief update on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) late on Monday (May 5), most users complained thetwin cities y never saw the alert.

Commuters heavily criticized the Ama Bus mobile app for not displaying live alerts or notifications about the suspension. “Most people don’t check ‘X’ for travel updates. The app or even their Instagram page would have been better platforms to communicate,” said Sneha Jena, a regular on Route 18.

At OMP Square in Cuttack, large crowds gathered with the hope of catching a bus, only to be left frustrated. Regular delays or unannounced cancellations between 6 am and 7 am have also become a recurring issue in recent weeks.

Ama Bus staff remained evasive, with one conductor suggesting that the issue may be linked to the integration of nearly 300 newly introduced electric buses, which has likely led to scheduling changes and confusion. Another said bluntly, “We can’t say when services will be back to normal.”

No official comment has been received from CRUT on the situation, though this story will be updated when they respond.
