The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi, has been granted approval to establish an off-campus centre at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, marking a significant step in India’s trade education ecosystem.
The Ministry of Education has authorised the expansion, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The new campus will house IIFT’s flagship MBA (International Business) program, short-term training courses, and a research hub dedicated to global trade strategies. According to official sources, the institute successfully fulfilled the regulatory conditions outlined in its Letter of Intent issued in January 2025, paving the way for its expansion.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal congratulated IIFT on the approval, highlighting its role in shaping India’s export-driven economy. The institute, established in 1963, has consistently contributed to capacity building in international trade, earning recognition from NAAC and AACSB.
The GIFT City centre, located on the 16th and 17th floors of GIFT Tower 2, promises a world-class academic environment with cutting-edge infrastructure. Experts believe this development will empower future trade professionals and enhance India’s global standing in commerce and exports.
