Kataka Sadar MLA and Odisha Legislative Assembly member Prakash Chandra Sethi has written to the Hon’ble Speaker of the Assembly, requesting strict action against Dr Sudarshan Mishra, Head of the Department of Education and Chief Warden of Ravenshaw University, over alleged misconduct during a recent campus visit.
In his letter, Sethi stated that he had visited Ravenshaw University in his capacity as a Senate Member and MLA after learning that students of East Hostel were staging an indefinite hunger strike against alleged harassment by the Deputy Warden. While participating in a discussion to help resolve the issue, Sethi claimed that Dr Mishra made an insulting remark that undermined the dignity of his constitutional position as an elected representative.
Terming the incident as “highly unbecoming of a senior university official,” Sethi urged the Speaker to initiate strict and appropriate action against Dr Mishra and ensure that such disrespectful conduct is not repeated in the future.
The MLA emphasised that public representatives deserve due respect in institutional settings and that such behaviour erodes the decorum expected in public administration.
