Indian chess prodigy Aravindh Chithambaram showcased his mettle in the rapid section of the Superbet Rapid and Blitz tournament, held in Warsaw.
Competing as a wildcard, Chithambaram scored 11 points, sharing the top spot with Frenchman Alireza Firouzja and Slovenian Vladimir Fedoseev.
Aravindh’s victory in the final game over Firouzja proved decisive, aided by a dramatic endgame in which Firouzja ran out of time. Fellow Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa also rebounded after a slow start, climbing to a joint fourth place with 10 points alongside American Levon Aronian.
As the tournament progresses into the blitz games, excitement builds with 18 rounds remaining, and the competition is still wide open. With high stakes and tight standings, chess fans eagerly anticipate more intense battles on the board.
