Mumbai City FC showcased an exceptional display of dominance as they triumphed over Chennaiyin FC with a resounding 4-0 win in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Kalinga Super Cup.

The match, held at the iconic Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on April 23, 2025, saw a stellar performance by captain Lallianzuala Chhangte.

Nikolaos Karelis set the pace with a goal in the 43rd minute, marking the first half’s only score. Lallianzuala Chhangte then took over in the second half, netting two brilliant goals in the 64th and 86th minutes. Substitute Bipin Singh completed the rout with a strike in the final minute, leaving Chennaiyin FC reeling and eliminated from the tournament.

After their tough loss against Bengaluru FC in the ISL knockout rounds, Mumbai City FC bounced back in style, booking their place in the Super Cup quarter-finals. Chennaiyin FC, following a disappointing ISL season, struggled to make an impact in the match.
