Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday held a high-level security meeting in the wake of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists.

The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Army Chief General Upendra Dwiwedi, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi.

According to sources cited by news agency ANI, the discussions focused on the evolving security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and measures required to prevent further attacks. The developments from the meeting are also expected to be reviewed in detail during a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting likely to take place later today.

Army Chief General Dwiwedi and Navy Chief Tripathi briefed the Defence Minister on the situation in and around Pahalgam. The Indian Armed Forces have reportedly deployed top officers to the region and placed local security units on high alert. Additional troops are being mobilized for ongoing search and destroy operations aimed at neutralizing the terrorists involved in the attack.

The government is taking the incident with utmost seriousness, and the rapid response from India’s top military and intelligence leadership signals a strong intent to crack down on terror outfits operating in the region.
