A devastating fire broke out late last night in Balanga village under Angul block, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit.
The fire started around 11 PM, quickly spreading and consuming five thatched houses owned by villagers Dillip Biswal and Kastu Nayak.
Property worth lakhs of rupees was lost in the inferno, leaving both families distressed. Tragically, Dillip Biswal’s ten goats were burned alive in the incident. Meanwhile, Kastu Nayak’s daughter, who was preparing for her wedding, saw all her household items—including furniture, valuables, gold jewellery, and ₹50,000 in cash—destroyed in the flames.
Fire Services personnel responded promptly and successfully contained the blaze before it could spread further. While the affected families are grappling with the aftermath, locals have urged authorities to provide necessary relief and support.
