The Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG), chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) and co-chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has recommended asset monetisation proposals valued at over Rs 1,100 crore for final consideration and approval by the Cabinet-delegated Alternative Mechanism (AM).

The recommended proposals primarily focus on surplus land and building assets belonging to Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).

This development represents a significant step forward in the Union Government’s ongoing drive to systematically unlock economic value from underutilised public assets and redirect them toward productive national development.

During the meeting, the IMG also reviewed the overall progress of asset monetisation initiatives facilitated by the National Land Monetisation Corporation (NLMC).

As a specialised, wholly owned Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Finance, NLMC leads due diligence, professional transaction structuring, independent valuation, and market-facing monetisation execution in close coordination with individual ministries and asset-owning entities.

The recommendations reflect the growing momentum of India’s public asset management framework, which prioritises transparent, competitive price discovery and efficiency.

Following the required approvals from the Alternative Mechanism, execution and transaction activities will proceed in line with established government guidelines to support fresh investment and broader economic growth.

  • A customer at Regal Food Park in Infocity, Patia, allegedly found insects in the cauliflower served in a vegetable curry. When the customer raised the issue, the restaurant representative reportedly responded dismissively, asking how they could be expected to spot insects inside a cauliflower and stating that nothing could be done.
Despite the complaint, the customer and his friends were required to pay the entire bill. The incident raises serious concerns about food hygiene and the restaurant’s handling of customer complaints.
