Border tensions flared once again in the disputed Kotia region of Koraput district as Odisha and Andhra Pradesh police forces engaged in a heated standoff at the Neredibalsa checkpost.
The confrontation erupted when Andhra Police personnel attempted to force their way past the checkpoint into Odisha territory. When local authorities stopped them, an intense verbal altercation broke out between the two sides.
The situation escalated further as Andhra police personnel engaged in sharp arguments with senior Odisha administrative officials present on the ground, including the Koraput Sub-Collector and the Pattangi Tehsildar.
The dispute traces back to the previous day, when Odisha Police intercepted a truck loaded with ration rice arriving from Andhra Pradesh at the border.
The incident has reignited long-standing jurisdictional friction in the region, prompting local authorities to remain on high alert to maintain law and order.
