In the wake of Cyclone Arnab affecting eastern coastal and neighbouring regions, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held detailed telephonic discussions with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to assess the situation in Odisha.

The Home Minister assured the state leadership of every possible assistance from the Central Government to mitigate the hardship faced by the people.

Apart from Odisha, Amit Shah reached out to the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Union Territory of Puducherry to review the overall impact of the cyclonic storm across the affected territories.

Addressing the national disaster management protocol, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated:

In the wake of Cyclone Arnab, spoke with the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Odisha and Chhattisgarh and assured them of every assistance to mitigate the hardship of the people in the face of the disaster. NDRF and SDRF teams have sprung into action and are continuing rescue and relief operations on a war footing. IMCTs will soon be sent to assess the impact and further assistance required.

Government of India stands with the people with resolute commitment.

To evaluate the extent of structural, agricultural, and infrastructural destruction, Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) will soon visit Odisha and other affected regions. In the meantime, disaster response units—including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF)—are actively engaged in ground operations, carrying out rescue and relief measures on a war footing.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the timely reassurance, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted the crucial role of central-state coordination.

Grateful to Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji for assuring all possible assistance to Odisha in the wake of Cyclone Arnab.
The support and cooperation of the Government of India will strengthen our efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of every Odia.

— Mohan Charan Majhi (@MohanMOdisha) October 29, 2026

With response teams fully deployed and emergency shelters operating, both the Union and State governments remain steadfast in ensuring swift relief and recovery for affected families.
